Youth safety in border towns, issue raised by the YES Bhutan Network members
Related to country: Bhutan

Safety and security measures for youths confined within Indo-Bhutan border towns.

It is something, ‘crying over the spilt milk’ when we revive bygone incidents that had inevitably happened with some youths residing at around the adjacent vicinity to Indo-Bhutan border. In the elapsed recent years, a few students endured brutal killings using ‘Khukuri’ among young peers could not be clearly detected and revealed. When we peered into the matter and tried to glean information on the issue, it is deciphered that such killings using weapon had happened under the influence of drugs and vengeful circumstances. Such situation also ensued on their way owing to girls who make adolescently love among themselves.

Now, let us visualize quite seriously on this fighting and killing issue of the youths in and around the places. Ofcourse, it will not give much impact or hurt among the individual concerns in general but on the contrary, let individual parents think of the situation of those parents who have lost their loved ones on such imminent incidents. Is not it gravely anguishing and mournful to the victimized parents? And one should not forget that such awful day or venerating situation might not come or develop on any one of us any time. This sort of dreadful accident might impend even to a well-protected family or home.

Therefore, it is the duty of we citizens of this country to shoulder shared responsibility to strongly bear in mind, come forward and start with the right strategy to watch, mitigate, prevent, and subdue youth fallen under the influence of drugs addiction, adolescents gang fights and eventual brutal killings. The youth inherited from any parents or the families, regardless of any cast and creed are the future potential heroes of our country. It is our foremost duty to protect and correct them, prevent them from deviating to wrong path, arrange to provide them safety and security measures, and guide them to the right path leading to success.

We will not forget to mention that Royal Bhutan Police (RBP) were involved in all the isolated incidents in finding out the causes of killing, gather sufficient evidences, gleaning information and provide safety and security measures. Some cases were forwarded to the court for trial. We would like to thank the department, RBP for their police duty.
At the end, we would like to call upon and urge all people from various walks of life to support us, ultimately to support you on safety and security measures for our children living in the border towns.
